TLC Giver - The longer the animals spend in their kennels, the less adoptable they become. They can begin to go “kennel crazy”, show aggressive tendencies or just plain bounce off the walls when they are taken to visit with a prospective adopter. Regular exercise and socialization can greatly improve the quality of an animal's life while he/she is caged and also make a big difference when it comes to that animal's adoptability. This position requires somebody who has experience with animals and patience. You will get jumped on, drooled on and just overall dirty. When you take an animal from a messy cage, we would love it if you could tidy up that cage. Checking to make sure that all animals have sufficient water is another part of this job. If you notice that a particular dog has had some prior obedience training, you can make a note of this and pass it along to your supervisor. If you notice some aggression towards other dogs, this is good for our staff to know as well. This is all-important information when it comes to placing any particular animal in the right home. The TLC giver is an invaluable part of our family at PBR.

Foster Caregivers – We are always in need of volunteers who are willing to share their homes and their lives on a temporary basis with animals who need a home until adoption. Puppies that need a stable atmosphere, an ill dog that needs a quiet place to recover and receive the proper medications or a dog that is waiting for a forever home, we are never short of animals that need foster care. This job requires a huge amount of time and emotional sacrifice, as it is often difficult to give up animals when they have been a part of your family for a period of time. Foster Caregivers are a special group of volunteers and our animals are truly blessed by the love and care they receive from the people willing to foster them. Foster volunteers are commonly subject to a home visit by one of our seasoned volunteers. Please note we do not "just show up", we will schedule a home visit that works with both you and our volunteer also we will require a vet check if you have pets or past pets in last 5 years.

Groomers – Are you an amateur or professional groomer with some time to give? Our fosters and dogs at Vector Control could always use a little sprucing up! Getting them used to being brushed and bathed is an excellent socialization technique, and they are so much more adoptable when they are soft, fuzzy and clean! Some experience in this area is best.

Adoption Day Handlers – When we have adoption days it is always nice to have more volunteers than we have dogs. That way we can have volunteers to talk with prospective adopters about a particular dog.

Transporters – PBR transports dogs all over the state in order to save them from being killed. We are always in need of volunteers who are able to transport dogs. We suggest the use of a mini van or SUV for transporting the greatest number of animals at one time, but a car will work just as well. We also have vehicles available to transporters that are doing distance driving for us.

MISC. Volunteer Opportunities – There is never a shortage of things that need to be done at Vector Control. We are always in need of extra help when it comes to cleaning, office work, special events and handy work. If you have time and any particular skill that you would like to donate to PBR, please let us know!!

Fundraising Committee - Help a group of others in this group come up ways to raise moneys for the rescue so we can better help the animals.
